Staff Profile: Sally Martin 01/04/2016
National Retail Broking Manager
I have been working in the insurance industry for:
When I was a kid, I wanted to grow up to be:
A Helicopter Pilot
The last book I read was:
Be a Confident Communicator by Carol Fox
When I order coffee, I ask for:
Two things I can’t live without are:
Family & friends and the internet (sad I know)
The most valuable piece of advice I have been given in my business life is:
I don’t think there is any one piece of valuable advice but simply a good work ethic instilled by my dad and lots of people I have worked with along the way that have mentored and supported me. I was told at my very first job interview “No-one ever chooses insurance as a career, you just fall into it and learn to love it” and I now do.
If I could speak with anybody (dead or alive), it would be:
Marilyn Monroe because I’m fascinated by that time (40’s & 50’s) and wonder what it would have been like to live in that era. I would also have loved to know all the little secrets I’m sure she held.
Forgetting (momentarily!) about sugar, calorie, carbs etc, my very favourite food to eat is:
Pasta, pasta, pasta!
One thing that people are surprised to learn about me is:
I’m not sure, maybe that I grew up on a farm in country Victoria or that I took a break from insurance for a couple of years and managed a pub in far north Queensland.
