MBAIS Habitat Heroes 27/11/2019
MBAIS CEO Luke Hueston announced at the recent MBAIS staff conference, our corporate partnership with Habitat for Humanity. This partnership will see MBAIS support Habitat for Humanity in a number of ways including financial support and having our staff volunteering onsite with Habitat for Humanity.
Luke explained to staff that the choice to partner with Habitat for Humanity was an easy one given the nature of the work they do, and our strong alignment with the building and construction industry as specialist construction insurance brokers. Habitat for Humanity partners with low-income families to help them achieve the dream of building and owning their own home.
Today is the first of our volunteer days with a number of our South Australian and Victorian staff joining Habitat for Humanity as Habitat Heroes working away to help deliver a house for Philip and Sajana in Davoren Park, South Australia.
Habitat for Humanity is partnering with Philip and Sajana to provide their family with their own home. Philip and Sajana and their four children fled Sri Lanka by boat in 2011 because of war and fighting which was killing many people. Their eldest child was 8 and their baby was only 1 year old. After spending a number of years at Cocos Island and Christmas Island camps, they are now excited to be establishing themselves in Adelaide.
MBAIS is extremely proud of our relationship with Habitat for Humanity, and we look forward to our ongoing support of this fantastic organisation.
