Our Business Development Managers and Account Managers have extensive experience in servicing clients of various sizes and complexity, from sub-contractors and owner builders through to large scale commercial builders. They are backed up by an enthusiastic crew of account brokers who will ensure that your enquiry is dealt with expediently and professionally every time.
Meet the MBAIS Management Team
Luke Hueston
Chief Executive Officer
Luke Hueston joined MBA Insurance Services in September 2010 as State Manager Victoria, and in August 2014 relocated to Sydney to take up the role of State Manager New South Wales. He was appointed as CEO of MBAIS in January 2017.
Luke has been an insurance professional for 14 years and has experience in developing tailored insurance facilities for large memberships and associations. With a product development focus, Luke is tasked with delivering new insurance packages to fit the needs of the MBA membership base.
Luke has a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) and is a Qualified Practicing Insurance Broker through the National Insurance Brokers Association.
Michael Wood
Chief Financial Officer
Michael Wood joined MBA Insurance Services in June 2010 as Chief Financial Officer after holding similar roles at major broking houses such as Willis and others. He has over 16 years experience in senior finance roles withing the insurance broking industry.
Michael is a specialist in all facets of financial management which will ensure that we are maximizing the best possible financial result for the business each year, and has extensive experience with ASFL compliance ensuring the business meets all of it's licence obligations.
Michael holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) from Deakin University and is a CPA
Lisa Woolf
National HR Manager / Social Media & Projects Advisor
Lisa Woolf joined MBA Insurance Services in March 2009 and currently sits in the role of National HR Manager / Social Media & Projects Advisor. Lisa commenced her career in Human Resources in 2005 following a number of years in sports and facility management roles. Lisa has worked across a range of industries, including health, associations, education, professional services and insurance.
Working closely with our Managers, Lisa has a strong focus on ensuring we attract, develop and retain quality staff within MBA Insurance Services. Lisa is also responsible for managing our social media presence, and works on a number of Board and CEO driven projects to continue to enhance our business opportunities
Lisa holds a Masters in Business (Human Resources), and is a Certified Professional Member of the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI).
Richard Grounds
National Technical Services Manager
Richard is a 25 year professional of the general insurance industry. Prior to commencing in insurance, Richard was an industrial engineer who came into insurance after completing the first 'kan ban' manufacturing plant in Australia. He also has a double major in business and is a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand Finance and Insurance Institute.
Richard has worked at a number of Insurers including NZI (now CGU) American International Underwriters, Australian International Insurance and Lumley. Throughout all of these companies Richard has always been a Construction, Energy, Engineering and Builders Warranty specialist. He has been the lead construction underwriter on most of the recent infrastructure projects around Australia including Docklands Stadium, Melbourne Citi Link, Q1Gold Coast, Australian Magnesium, Star Casino, Brisbane to Airport rail Link, Sydney Airport Link, Cross City tunnel with value of projects over $26 billion.
He has also links with most of the major construction underwriters and reinsurers in Australia, USA and Europe. He also had the opportunity to combine two of Australia's leading home warranty companies being Australian Home Warranty and Lumley into best practice with online distribution and claims handling.
He is a also proven executive in handling and helping distressed builders.
He is commonly referred to as 'the industry expert' and his knowledge is invaluable in helping MBAIS obtain the best possible coverage for our clients.
Sally Donald
National Project & Innovation Manager
Sally joined MBA Insurance Services in 2010 after an extensive period of broking in the trades and middle market. Since then she has undertaken a variety of roles within our business, particularly focusing on enhancing the product and service offering for our SME builder and sub contractor members. Her outstanding contribution saw her promoted to National Retail Broking Manager in November 2014, where she continued to refine, design and implement numerous product and service improvements. This culminated in her recent appointment to National Project & Innovation Manager in August 2018.
Having worked within the general insurance broking industry for over 10 years, Sally is highly experienced in the vast range of SME products available to the building and construction industry. With a strong focus on process improvement and data analysis, Sally’s key objective is to continually improve our customer service standards and product quality, as well as developing our procurement strategy, through regular engagement with our key markets, and ongoing research into new products and services. This includes our on-line offering to members.
Sally has lived and worked in several States within Australia and has a Diploma of Insurance Broking, from the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF).
Jessica Walsh
National Retail Broking Manager
Jessica joined MBA Insurance Services in 2015 and has held roles in both our Victorian and New South Wales branches. On relocation back to Victoria in 2018, Jessica was appointed National Retail Broking Manager. Jessica’s experience working across broking teams in both New South Wales and Victoria gives her valuable insight into our clients needs and she has extensive experience in the range of products available to the building industry. Her role sees her working closely with our key insurance partners, researching new markets and developing product enhancements to ensure our clients have access to superior insurance coverage and services. Jessica is also passionate about ensuring our brokers have access to tools to deliver exceptional customer service to our clients and therefore has a strong focus on developing and implementing process and procedure enhancements for our broking teams.
Jessica has worked in the general insurance industry for the past 10 years and holds a Diploma of Insurance Broking from the National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA).
Gillian Wright
National Home Warranty Manager
Gillian joined MBA Insurance Services in 2016 after seven years with accounting and advisory firm Grant Thornton. Gillian was a Manager in the Recovery and Reorganisation division and managed both corporate and personal insolvencies across a range of industries.
Gillian brings her expertise and commercial acumen to the role of National Home Warranty Manager where she assists our corporate clients with their current home warranty insurance needs as well as working closely with them to achieve their future potential. She also heads up our national home warranty operations across Vic, NSW, SA, WA & ACT.
Gillian holds a Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Business and has completed the Australian Restructuring Insolvency and Turnaround Association’s Advanced Certification program. Gillian became a Chartered Accountant in 2011.
Sonia Kerr
National Home Warranty Operations Manager
Sonia has been with MBA Insurance Services since 2010, after successfully completing a broad range of customer service roles within the travel and construction industries.
Throughout that time she has undertaken account broking and team leading roles, where she displayed outstanding administration and leadership skills, utilising her sound knowledge of the residential construction industry to assist our clients. This recently culminated in her appointment as the National Home Warranty Operations Manager, leading an enthusiastic and professional team of experienced Home Warranty Insurance Administration Officers and Account Executives.
Sonia is a specialist in all facets of the eligibility and job application process, providing advice to some of our largest residential clients. Her diverse background in business processes & scheme design allows her to deliver process efficiencies and creative solutions for our clients. She enjoys working closely with key clients to understand their unique business needs, and is dedicated to contributing to the ongoing success of their businesses.
Joe Keiper
Southern Region Manager
Joe Keiper joined MBA Insurance Services in September 2014 as State Manager Victoria. In late 2017, Joe was promoted to the role of Southern Region Manager, overseeing operations in Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania.
Joe has had a distinguished career in Sales, Underwriting, and Operations management at several larger insurers including QBE, Chubb and Allianz, including holding national roles. Joe has been an insurance professional since 1995, working in direct and intermediated businesses with experience spanning from personal insurance through to commercial and corporate sectors, across all classes of insurance. Joe has an excellent track record in strategic planning, relationship management, people development, and sales.
Joe’s strong focus on exceeding client expectations and developing our people will ensure MBAIS continues to outperform, and deliver the highest level of service to our clients in Victoria.
Dele Omisore
State Manager, NSW
Dele Omisore joined MBA Insurance Services in 2015 with the responsibility of providing builders with improved access to our services
In October 2016, Dele broadened his role with the responsibility of managing New Business Campaigns nationally, to ensure every member across every state is made aware of MBA Insurance’s specialised products.
In April 2019, Dele was promoted into the NSW State Manager, and with the full support of his peers and colleagues is looking forward to continuing the success of our NSW operations over the years to come.
Dele has worked in Insurance and Financial Services in both the UK and Australia for over 6 years, with a particular focus on Financial Services and the SME market. Dele has shown a keen interest in new building techniques and new technologies used in the changing world of construction.
Neil Gray
State Manager, WA
Neil joined MBA Insurance Services as WA State Manager in April 2019. He is a highly experienced insurance broker and risk management advisor with over 30 years experience having worked in the London market prior to moving to Perth in January 2002.
He is a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance, a Qualified Practicing Insurance Broker and holds a Diploma in Financial Services (Insurance Broking). In 2016 Neil was awarded the WA Insurance Broker of The Year by the insurance broking industry's peak body, the National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA). He is a past Chair of the WA NIBA committee and served on the committee for 8 years.
He has held senior management and insurance broking roles with national and international insurance brokers and has a proven track record in delivering positive outcomes for businesses.
Karl Tester
Northern Territory Representative
Karl Tester is a well known and respected insurance broker with 23 years experience including eight years as the Northern Territory State Executive of a global insurance broking giant.
Karl offers a proven track record of commended performance, technical expertise and satisfied, loyal clientele. As the 1998 recipient of the coveted national Warren Tickle Award for Outstanding Performance, Karl's professionalism has been recognised by his colleagues and clients.
High levels of customer service and insurance programs that are individually designed to fit each client are what Karl enjoys doing the most.
Commencing in 2010 Karl now acts as an authorised representative of MBA Insurance Services Pty Ltd.
