Update on Victoria Home Warranty Insurance - 1/07/2010

We wish to advise that all Builders who have held Home Warranty insurance eligibility with an authorised insurer for work in Victoria at any time since 1 January 2009 and are currently dealing through MBAIS as their Home Warranty Insurance Broker have been transferred to the Victorian Managed Insurance Authority (VMIA) facility.

MBAIS are currently in the process of writing to all clients with details of their new Letter of Eligibility from QBE as agents for the VMIA and builders should receive this correspondence shortly.

If you were already eligible with QBE, it is business as usual.

Update on Victoria Home Warranty Insurance - 9/06/2010

On the back of the withdrawal of CGU Insurance and Lumley Insurance late last year and the withdrawal of Vero Insurance from the 30 June 2010, the Victorian Government run Victorian Managed Insurance Authority (VMIA) has entered into an agreement with QBE under which the VMIA will provide domestic building insurance to builders in Victoria, with cover issued by QBE from 31 May 2010.

Builders who have held domestic building insurance eligibility with an authorised insurer for work in Victoria at any time since 1 January 2009 will automatically be eligible for cover from the VMIA on comparable underwriting terms and conditions for a period of at least 12 months or until they are assessed.

MBAIS are undertaking a transfer of all eligible clients to the VMIA. If you are currently eligible with Vero or previously eligible with CGU and Lumley at any stage since 1 January 2009 and your current Broker is MBAIS you will be notified of your new Home Warranty Insurance facility shortly. If you are currently eligible with QBE, it is business as usual.
