Our Business Development Managers and Account Managers have extensive experience in servicing clients of various sizes and complexity, from sub-contractors and owner builders through to large scale commercial builders. They are backed up by an enthusiastic crew of account brokers who will ensure that your enquiry is dealt with expediently and professionally every time.

Meet the MBAIS Management Team

Kevin Pattison - General Manager

He began his General Insurance career in 1978. Throughout his 30 years in the industry, he has held senior executive positions with several major Insurers including Vero, APIA and Calliden.  He has worked in both direct and intermediated businesses, dealing in long tail and short tail classes, thus his expertise spans all facets of commercial and personal insurance.

Kevin has lived and worked in the three major insurance markets within Australia (NSW, VIC and QLD) for significant periods, as well as carrying out assignments in London , South East Asia and USA.

Kevin holds a Bachelor of Business (Insurance) from Victoria University and he is a Fellow (CIP) of the Australian and New Zealand Insurance Institute. He is also a Graduate of the Institute of Company Directors.


Michael Wood - Chief Financial Officer

Michael Wood  joins MBA Insurance Services (based in Melbourne) after holding CFO roles at major broking houses such as Willis and others.  He has over 12 years experience in senior finance roles within the insurance broking industry.

Michael is a specialist in all facets of financial management which will ensure that we are maximizing the best possible financial result for the business each year.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) from Deakin University and is a CPA.




Norm Verity  - National Technical Services Manager

Norm is a 30 year professional of the general insurance industry. Prior to commencing in insurance, Norm was a qualified engineer, and today he still dabbles in the re-building of cars during his spare time.

Since he originally commenced with NZI, Norm has worked at a number of Insurers including Switzerland General, FAI and CGU. Throughout all of these companies Norm has always been a Construction & Engineering specialist. This is due to his practical experience in the field and his understanding of the construction industry.

He has also worked extensively in the insurance broking sphere, having run his own broking business for 11 years after a considerable amount of time at some of Sydney’s leading broking houses. Again throughout this period he has done a variety of roles,  from being the Managing Director through to the business development executive.

He is commonly referred to as ‘the industry expert’ and his knowledge is invaluable in helping MBAIS obtain the best possible coverage for our clients.

Jim Goranitis - National Home Warranty Manager

Jim Goranitis recently joined the MBAIS team as a Home Warranty specialist. He has over 10 years experience in the insurance industry and 15 years in banking (predominantly dealing in complex commercial transactions). Most recently he was at Vero Insurance where he was the Volume Builder Manager, managing the Home Warranty insurance needs of Vero’s large volume builders and financially distressed builders nationally.

His experience and ability to understand the ongoing challenges that builders face, the complex transactions that make up a typical builders financial statements and his natural lateral thinking skills sets him apart from his peers, and it’s this expertise and experience which helps MBAIS obtain such a high success rate from eligibility applications.

Jim holds Diploma in General Insurance and is a Senior Associate of the Australian & New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance.

Luke Hueston - Southern Regional Manager

Luke Hueston joined MBA Insurance Services in September 2010.

Luke has been an insurance professional for nine years and has experience in developing tailored insurance facilities for large memberships and associations. Bringing with him a product development focus, Luke is tasked with delivering new insurance packages to fit the needs of the MBA membership base.

Luke has a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) and is a Qualified Practicing Insurance Broker through the National Insurance Brokers Association.



Adam Fawcett - Northern Regional Manager

Adam Fawcett joins MBA Insurance Services in January 2011 as Northern Region Manager.

With over 12 years experience in the insurance industry working both as an underwriter and broker, Adam has provided specialty general insurance services to a wide range of clients in both commercial and corporate sectors.

With a strong focus on client relationships, Adam is determined to deliver complete insurance programs to meet the needs of MBA members.

Adam has a Diploma in Financial Services (Insurance Broking) and is a Qualified Practicing Insurance Broker through the National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA).

Paul Mencev - State Manager Western Australia

Paul joined the team in October 2010 and has over 20 years experience in the insurance industry with 15 of those years specialising in Construction.

Paul’s most recent position was with an international brokerage firm whose focus was on large one off mining and civil infrastructure projects in Western Australia. Paul has an in depth knowledge and understanding of residential and commercial builders, with significant expertise in Home Warranty; a product he has been involved with since 1996. Paul’s ability to understand accounting financials helps solve many problems builders face with obtaining eligibility and major growth in turnovers.

Paul is impassioned about providing traditional good old fashion service and assisting Western Australian builders with their concerns and needs. Paul’s view to his role is that “Insurance is risk solutions that we buy on behalf of our client’s requirements; not something that we sell to you”.

Paul holds Diploma in Financial Services (Broking) and is near completion of his Diploma in Business (General Insurance).

Karl Tester - Northern Territory Representative

Karl Tester is a well known and respected insurance broker with 23 years experience including eight years as the Northern Territory State Executive of a global insurance broking giant.

Karl offers a proven track record of commended performance, technical expertise and satisfied, loyal clientele.  As the1998 recipient of the coveted national Warren Tickle Award for Outstanding Performance, Karl’s professionalism has been recognised by his colleagues and clients.

High levels of customer service and insurance programs that are individually designed to fit each client are what Karl enjoys doing the most.

Commencing in 2010 Karl now acts as an authorised representative of MBA Insurance Services Pty Ltd.
